Tough Soles
"When we walk," Henry David Thoreau wrote in The Atlantic in 1862, "we naturally go to the fields and the woods: what would become of us if we walked only in a garden or a mall?"
Ellie Berry knows a fair bit about walking in fields. The summer of her twenty-first birthday, she and her partner, Carl Lange, walked across Spain. A couple of years later, they embarked on an epic, 4,000 kilometre journey across rural Ireland; determined to hike all forty-two of the country's National Waymarked Trails.
They expected the journey to take just a few months. But it didn't work out that way.” - text by James Graham.
